...Although it may not feel like it as a boss or employer. Sometimes getting your staff or colleagues to follow seemingly simple instructions can feel a lot like getting blood out of the proverbial stone. How do your staff currently measure up to your expectations of them...?
In my experience I've found that when staff are getting it right, they are given more and more to do, meaning that they eventually become overwhelmed and stressed. Or they aren't doing things the way the boss wants them done, so they get given less important work, meaning the boss becomes more overwhelmed and stressed.
The goods news is that there are ways around this, so if you have the will to make changes to your staffs' behaviour and get them doing things your way, then I'm pleased to tell you it can happen.
It starts with what you are asking them to do, what actual words you are using and how they are understanding this. It is also the way you ask them, what's your tone and posture like, in what format do they receive the request. And also how bought in do you have them to the vision of the business.
I help people to improve what they can get from their staff, both by working one to one with the person doing the communication, or the one who isn't getting the message. I can also work by facilitating team meetings, allowing everyone to jointly learn and buy into the common goal.
If it would beneficial for you to get your staff doing more things your way, then get in touch. It costs nought to natter, so we can meet or speak for free, and see how I can help you...
