Many people feel like they could be doing better.  Whether it’s in their business, their job, or in their personal life.

What stops them from doing better?

In many cases, they are a not a natural sales person, so are reluctant to do it.  EVERYONE needs to be a sales person - whether it’s selling the idea of eating broccoli to your child, selling the idea of doing menial tasks to your staff, the idea of you being the best person for the promotion to your boss, selling some products to the person who's hair you just styled, or your client's argument to a judge...

Everyone must sell.  If you don’t sell you aren't helping yourself.  It would be like working really hard on getting the contents of your shop right, but not actually opening the doors of your shop each morning.  You can see how that would really hinder your success!  Many people who think they are not a natural sales person either think of sales as something a bit unpleasant, or something which requires a skill that they don't have, or an attitude that they don't possess...  I prefer to look at sales as a process.  The act of giving someone the opportunity to buy.  Letting them know that you can solve the problem that they have, or fulfil the need they have identified.  Your reluctancy to point this out to them, will cost you their business.

SO, how does coaching help with this?  What I do is help people to feel more natural about selling.  I help them to feel comfortable with it, to use the right language, to create the right process, to spot the opportunities and to follow through and close the deal.  I encourage, develop, pursuade, nag, and if necessary, hypnotise!  There are plenty of tools in this coach's box...
