Free from depression
Depression is a fundamentally normal experience, considering the paradigm that our society operates within.
For as long as it looks to us like we are separate, isolated individuals – who need things we might not be able to get, and for whom, it doesn’t seem to matter what we get, it never feels like enough – of course we will experience depression from time to time. Our body and mind become exhausted with this race to fill the bottomless pit of what we need to be happy, or to maintain the wobbly house of cards of what we think makes us good enough.
That experience of exhaustion, the absence of the will to keep up with the pack, is what we commonly refer to in our society as depression. It’s normal. There is nothing wrong with you. What isn’t normal, are the ideas that lead to the depressed feeling. The ideas of separation, need and lack. That’s what there’s something wrong with. You are experiencing the symptoms of the broken paradigm. But you are perfect and well, if you know which direction to look in. That’s where the paradigm that I teach comes in.
The paradigm we’re working with isn’t working for us. It’s time to address the misunderstanding and learn to experience life the way it is meant to be experienced. Our whole culture is built around the misunderstanding, but there is a quiet movement of teachers like myself, of books and videos etc, all of which are starting to gently point back to who we are before our conditioned ideas came into play. With that understanding there is peace, there is compassion for ourselves (and others).
